Reclamation of the quarry

As part of the mining permit, each company is obliged to prepare a plan for the rehabilitation and reclamation of the mined areas. Cement Hranice carried out a complete revision of the reclamation and rehabilitation plan during the last permit update with regard to environmental protection. The original proposal for the reclamation of the quarries envisaged the conversion of areas for agricultural use. The new rehabilitation and reclamation plan is designed as a natural succession process with the aim of creating new landscape features from the quarry areas. This will create sites with outcrops of limestone rocks, forest cover and water areas, which will create conditions for colonisation by animal and plant species associated with similar types of biotopes. The intention is to create fully-fledged landscape elements that would enrich the nature of the town of Hranice and the surrounding villages. The envisaged appearance of the area after reclamation is shown in the following visualisation.
